Carving the Samuel McIntire Fruit Basket
Learn to carve the classic Samuel McIntire Fruit Basket. This lesson goes through all the steps of carving this classic design. It is an amazing carving in shallow low relief that has plenty of rich texture that appears much deeper than its actual 3/8" depth.
In this highly detailed and practical lesson from a classical woodcarver, you see every step so you can develop your own carving abilities. It's one of those lessons you'll want to watch again and again.
This lesson includes:
- Four video episodes in SD resolution totaling 131 minutes running time.
- A printable full size template and tool list (1 page)
- A photo of the completed carving(1 page)
Consider Using a Casting
It is often very handy having something 3-dimensional in front of you to copy while you carve. Being able to see all the “unknowns” such as depth, subtle cuts, etc. is tremendously helpful. Photos are not always able to show depth, and quite often shadows create a false illusion of shape. I have a casting available for this lesson at My Store on my Cornerstone Creations site.
