This 15 episode lesson (the longest by far for this school) shows the process of carving a highly ornate dragon and acanthus leaf design in walnut. I describe the origin of this epic project and how to get started at a blog entry here.

In this highly detailed and practical lesson from a classical woodcarver, you see every step so you can develop your own carving abilities. It's one of those lessons you'll want to watch again and again.

This lesson includes:

  • Fifteen video episodes in SD resolution totaling 463 minutes, a whopping 7.7 hours, running time.
  • A printable full size template, and photo. (1 page)
  • Consider Using a Casting

It is often very handy having something 3-dimensional in front of you to copy while you carve. Being able to see all the “unknowns” such as depth, subtle cuts, etc. is tremendously helpful. Photos are not always able to show depth, and quite often shadows create a false illusion of shape. I have a casting available for this lesson at My Store on my Cornerstone Creations site.
